Doctors push ban on running ads for new drugs

Pharmaceutical companies typically launch new drugs with advertising blitzes, but the ads sometimes run before doctors have a chance to learn about the drugs.

So on Wednesday, the American Medical Association proposed temporary bans on running ads for new medications “until physicians have been appropriately educated about the drug.”

新薬の広告を派手にしすぎると医師が知識を得ないうちに飛びついてしまうので、医師が薬についてよく学ぶまでちょっと控えましょうかという話。
